4.3 Palletization. When specified (see 5.2), shipping containers shall be palletized in accordance with load type 1a of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps in accordance with bonding means C and D or film bonding means F or G.
4.4 Marking. In addition to any special marking required by the contract or purchase order, shipping containers, and palletized unit loads shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
5. NOTES
5.1 Intended use. The boots are intended for wear by Military Personnel in wet-cold climates down to -100F.

5.4 Lasts. A last manufactured by Jones & Vining, 166 Forbes Rd, P.O. Box 755, Braintree, MA 02184, has been found to meet the requirements of 2.3
5.5 Nonwoven insulation. A lining material manufactured by 3m, Building 220-7W, 3M Center, St. Paul, MN 55144 under the destination “Thinsulate”, has been found to meet the requirements of 2.4 for nonwoven insulation.
5.6 Film lining. A film manufactured by W.L Gore & Association, P.O. Box 1130, Elkton, MD 21921 under the designation “Goretex”, has been found to meet the requirements of 2.4 for a film lining.
5.7 Sole. A sole manufactured by Quabaug Corp., North Brookfield, MA 01535 under the designation “Vibram”, has been found to meet the requirements of 2.7 for a sole.
5.8 Insole. An insole manufactured by Rogers Corporation, Poron Division, East Woodstock, CT 06244 under the designation “Poron”, has been found to meet the requirements of 2.9.
