INSTRUCTION TAG
BOOT, INTERMEDIATE COLD/WET
FACTS
These Intermediate Cold/Wet Boots (ICWB) have been designed to protect your feet from cold injury and frost bite in areas where moisture and cold are critical factors and where the mean monthly temperature ranges between 14 and 68 degrees F. The boots should not be worn where temperatures fall below +10 degrees F. (Note: For temperatures below +10 degrees F, the Boots, Cold Weather, Insulated, Rubber, Black or White, Vapor Barrier boots, should be worn.)
If your feet begin to get cold, button up all your graments and excercise the entire body by swinging the arms, stamping the feet, and rapid movement of the toes.
TRENCH FOOT AND FROSTBITE are serious cold injuries which can cause panful and permanent disability. These injuries can be prevented by proper care of your feet. No boot will keep your feet from freezing in cold/wet conditions if you remain motionless for several hours. Wear the ICWB properly and DO NOT BECOME A COLD WEATRER CASUALTY.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Wear with: 1 pair socks, wool, cushion sole.
2. Sizes. The boots are supplied in whole and half sizes 5 through 14, and in widths B (N), C (NR), D (R), EE (W), and EEE (XW). In some instances it may be necessary to select a slightly larger size than normally worn in order to allow for normal swelling of the feet.
3. Pull on boots, seating heel firmly in place, then lace. Boots should fit snugly but not tightly. There should be approximately 1/2 inch additional length at toe.
4. Carry extra socks. Change socks often, at least once daily. Remove boots and dry feet as often as possible. Neglect of feet can make you a casualty.
5. When your boots become soiled or dirty, simply brush or wipe them clean with a damp cloth. Let them dry naturally at room temperature (do not dry next to a radiator). Waterproofing is not required, however use of conditioners such as mink oil will help to maintain the natural condition of the leather and extend the service life of the boots.
