COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BOOTS, KNEE AND HIP (RUBBER)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification ZZ-B-530.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers rubber boots in whole sizes 5 through 15 in the following types:
Type I - Knee length
Type 11 - Hip length
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Description. The boots shall be heavy duty vulcanized rubber boots made over the manufacturer’s regular boot lasts using rubber and rubber/cotton cloth parts in accordance with the manufacturer’s standard practice. Type 11 boots shall have an adjustable top strap and knee patch.
2.2 Dimensions. For type I boots, the height (inside) at the back and front shall be not less than 14-1/2 inches. For “type II boots, the extreme height (inside) shall be not less than 34 inches and the crotch height (inside) shall be not less than 29 inches. The girth measured around the inside of the type II boot at the crotch shall not be less than 23 inches. The circumference at the calf of the type I and 11 boot lasts shall be not less than 16 inches for sizes 5, 6, and 7; 16-1/2 inches for sizes 8 and 9; 17 inches for sizes 10 and 11; and 18 inches for sizes 12 through 15.
